Dr. James Van Camp takes even routine eye exams seriously. During an eye examination, our patients will receive a patient history review, a series of vision and eye tests, assessments of eye focusing and movement, and an eye health evaluation.
James Van Camp, OD
Dr. James T. Van Camp graduated with distinction from Wake Forest University with a Pre-Medical Biology Degree and earned an Officer’s Commission in the U.S Army as a Distinguished Military Student and Graduate, in 1979. He graduated with honors from the University of Alabama Medical Center School of Optometry in 1983 and achieved membership in Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometry Honor Society.
During his military career, he was stationed at various field and Medical Center Hospitals. He served as adjunct faculty mentor for the Optometric Externship Programs at Reynolds Army Hospital and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.
In 1987, he established Academy Vision Science Clinic. He has completed numerous Post Graduate Advanced Ocular Therapeutics and Ocular Management programs from Pacific University School of Optometry and Southern California College of Optometry specializing in the treatment and management of ocular injury and diseases. He has a passion for helping children and adults with learning related vision problems, reading difficulty, dyslexia, and traumatic brain injury.
He is a long-time member of the American Optometric Association, the Colorado Optometric Association, the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and is
a Fellow and Diplomat of the American Board of Disability Analysts. Recognized among Top Executives of Who’s Who, he has served our community as Past President and Board Member of The Rampart Range Rotary Club; Senior Executive Leader in his local church; and, he has advised, and received appreciation from, our local city and county schools. He enjoys music and all aspects of our great Colorado outdoor living.
